As dusk settles over Basseterre, the streets of Saint Kitts come alive for the annual Latin Fiesta: lanterns glow between pastel colonial facades, a brass band and drummers strike up the first notes, and couples spin into salsa and merengue as the crowd claps along. Held each October, the week-long Latin Festival celebrates Latin culture through film nights, Latin fusion concerts, mariachi performances, dance classes and crafts, all building to the Latin Fiesta itself — an afternoon-to-late-night celebration of food, music and dance that has grown into one of the island’s most loved cultural events. For educators, it’s a vivid reminder of the warm, multicultural classroom that awaits when you Teach English in Saint Kitts and Nevis.
